To establish healthy communities globally

Our Mission

To empower people to take responsibility for their health and to promote healthy lifestyles through advocacy and behavioural change communication

Why We Exist

Nigeria’s health sector is in a 3-tier structure -Federal, State and local government, with each tier of governance taking responsibility for areas as stipulated in the 1999 constitution. Despite this 3-tier structure, the Country ranks low in indicators such as life expectancy at birth, infant mortality, neonatal mortality rate, under-5 child mortality (U5MR) and maternal mortality. Though the Country has recorded little improvement in the past decade in some of these indicators, the performance compared to other countries is poor and the country remains below the world’s average on priority health indices. Particularly worrisome is the state of health care services to women, children and adolescents

The World Health Organisation defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Healthy populations are central to the sustainable development of any country.  Countries all over the world roll out policies that seek to make the health of their citizenry a priority; however, these documents often are a sharp contrast with reality with budgetary provisions for health betraying policy position.

Non-communicable and communicable diseases are closely related outcomes with maternal, perinatal, and nutritional conditions, with all sharing common and oftentimes linked social and environmental risk factors including poverty and poor environmental sanitation. Interventions to improve maternal and child health such as malaria therapy in pregnancy, cessation of smoking and those that address adolescent and young adult health needs contain components that form part of preventive measures for non-communicable and communicable diseases.
